Summer Strolls

Summer Strolls

Beautiful summer days call for long walks around the city.  Despite the chaos that has taken over NJ transit, I’ve still found ways to spend my days in my favorite place: Manhattan.  Since my best friend spent her freshman year of college up in Maine, she hasn’t been to the city in a while.  Walking around, shopping, and eating at a new rooftop restaurant is the recipe for a perfect day in the city.

Of course, we started our day out in SoHo to do a little shopping (you’ll be seeing some of the pieces I purchased very soon(;!!).  What’s great about SoHo is that all of my favorite stores are lined up along Broadway–Madewell, Levi, Brandy Melville, Urban Outfitters, and so many more.  As always, it’s not a true trip to SoHo if you don’t stop on Mercer Street and snap a few photos.  I’ve always loved the quaint cobblestone streets and rod iron buildings of SoHo.  The neighborhood has such a unique look compared to everywhere else in the city.  Despite how busy it gets on a summer weekend, it’s still a great place to see in Manhattan.

For lunch, we stopped at the Chelsea Market and bought sandwiches at this cute Italian deli.  I got tomato, mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and balsamic on a ciabatta roll and let me tell you it tasted like heaven.  I definitely recommend checking out some of the spots in the Chelsea Market if you’re looking for a quick, healthy bite to eat.  To walk off the lunch, we went up onto the High Line.  What I love most about the High Line is that it offers some great views of the city.  The beautiful plants and historic railroad make it a great photo-op too!

Though I wasn’t able to shoot photos there, I thought I’d mention the restaurant we ended our day at.  I found a great rooftop restaurant/bar in midtown called Cantina Rooftop.  I mean, who doesn’t love live music, Mexican food, and a great view of the city?!

As for my outfit, I decided to keep it simple considering how hot it gets in Manhattan.  My sky blue dress is from the Brandy Melville line at PacSun.  I paired this dress with my new Madewell sandals and tote.  To finish the look off, I wore my simple Dogeared pearl necklace and Ray Bans.
