Welcome to my dorm!! I’m so excited to be sharing my little piece of home with you guys today! I probably spent waayyy too much time planning out every little detail of this room but at least it turned out great! I wanted my room to be super cozy but not too over-the-top. I’m not a fan of loading up my walls with posters or collages. I prefer to keep my space pretty open and air (or as open an airy as a door could be). Pretty much everything in my room is from Urban Outfitters since I’m an Urban Co. employee. I absolutely love their apartment line–it’s perfect for dorm living!
If you couldn’t already tell, my favorite color is yellow. I pretty much centered my room around the color yellow. To tone break up the yellow, I added in some mauve and white, my other two favorite colors. My duvet is just a simple heather light grey duvet from Urban. I actually had this same duvet last year and loved it so much that I wanted to keep it. It’s probably the softest duvet I’ve ever had. My throw blankets are both from target. I have an extra large white fluffy throw blanket and then a knit white and gold smaller throw blanket folded on top of it.
I have a serious obsession with throw pillows. If I had a dollar for every throw pillow I could probably buy myself a thousand more throw pillows. All of my throw pillows in my dorm are from, you guessed it, Urban Outfitter! I know, I’m obsessed, you don’t need to tell me twice. Instead of describing all one hundred throw pillows on my bed, here’s a link to all of them:
And now for my absolute favorite part of my room: my tapestry. Words cannot explain how in love with this tapestry I am. When I saw this on the Urban website I literally flipped out and sent a picture of it to all of my friends. If I was a tapestry, I would be this tapestry. Urban also makes it in a duvet with matching pillows but I thought that buying the entire set would be a little (just a little) much. On top of my tapestry I have a few strings of fairy lights that I just ordered off of Amazon. To fill the empty space behind my bed, I hung up this light-up half moon (fun fact: my mom thought it was a banana!).
Next to my bed I have a cube set from Ikea. The set I ordered only came with two cubes but I knew that wouldn’t be tall enough so I ordered an extra cube to go on top. This makes the perfect nightstand–the extra storage is a necessity and it looks really cute. On the top shelf I have a few books that I love, a cinema light-up box, a ciao figurine, and a bunch of succulents because I’m a plant freak. On top of my cube I have a frame from Chip and Joanna’s collected at Target. Inside the frame I printed out my favorite quote “Everything will be so good so soon just hang in there and don’t worry about it too much.” I have two more succulents, my favorite candle from Anthropologie, and a peaceful Buddha from the Christmas Market at Bryant Park with my meditation beads that my mom got me from India. I also have my favorite elephant figurine that I got when I was in Italy (fun fact #2: the marble used to make this figurine is from the same quarry where Michelangelo got the marble he used to make his David!!).
Over my desk I hung up a scratch off rose gold map that I got from Urban. And let me tell you, nothing has made me as happy as scratching off literally 3/4 of Europe! I picked up this travel calendar from Anthropologie because I have way too much wanderlust. I also have my favorite elephant mug from Urban Outfitters, my pink polaroid camera, a cactus, and a mirror that doubles as my jewlery holder from Urban Outfitters. I also have a few little knickknacks on my desk: an elephant a friend got me in Bangkok, a joyful Buddha, and a small marble dish from Anthropologie.
